PURE STRIKE 3rd GEN

16 X 19

With this racquet, Babolat updates the popular Pure Strike 16x19 with a new dampening technology while keeping the seductive playability of the previous generation. Boasting a slightly higher swingweight than the previous generation, this racquet packs a tad more stability and power, but it's still fast enough for aggressive all-court players, and it still offers the same mindless precision on full cuts. Like the previous generation, it has a hybrid frame construction (called Control Frame Technology), which blends the control and feel of square beam with the speed and dynamism of a modern elliptical beam. This racquet also has FSI Power technology which features wider spacing between the upper cross strings for easier access to spin and pace. New to this frame is C² Pure Feel, a material technology that combines cortex with a uniquely flexible viscoelastic rubber at 3/9 o'clock. The upshot is an even more dampened feel than the previous generation with slightly better pocketing. From the baseline the Pure Strike 16x19 feels solid and surgical. It offers the spin-friendly precision of the Pure Drive but with a softer response and better ball feedback. The higher swingweight of this 3rd Gen version comes in handy when battling against higher levels of pace or driving the ball through the court. At net the Pure Strike offers the best of both worlds. It comes around with decent speed but it also feels stable against higher levels of pace, and it's versatile enough for finishing points with a bang or dropping the ball on a dime. With some incremental updates to the feel, the Pure Strike 16x19 remains one of the more seductive and user-friendly player's racquets in Babolat's line-up.

PURE AERO 2019

16 X 19

Babolat adds another chapter to one of the game's most iconic and popular racquets. It's called the Pure Aero, and it specializes in the production of spin and power. At 11.2 ounces strung, this stick is ideal for hard charging intermediate players, but it should also work very well for the advanced ball striker who is looking to go on offense.  For this update, Babolat lowers the flex a tad, giving this notoriously stiff stick a slightly more controlled and arm-friendly response. Babolat has also moved the Cortex dampening material to the head at 3 & 9 o'clock, resulting in a slightly softer feel at impact. But make no mistake: this is still a firm, modern and lively weapon. The signature technology,  called FSI Spin, utilizes wider string spacing for extra bite along with oblong grommets at 6 and 12 o'clock to maximize string movement and snapback. Like the player who endorses this racquet (Rafael Nadal), the Pure Aero feels fast and explosive from the baseline. The speedy response and grippy stringbed provide the recipe for hitting heavy spin-loaded balls that drop hard, and the higher trajectory response makes it easy to keep the ball deep. The mid 320 swingweight draws a nice compromise between speed and stability, and the quick handling makes this a great stick for those who like chasing down balls or ripping winners on the run. At net the Pure Aero plays great on fast exchanges, and there is enough power to finish points with a bang. UltimatelyThe Pure Aero remains a very obvious choice for aggressive baseliners looking to control the action with pace and spin.

PURE DRIVE 16 X 19

With its "best of class" combination of speed, power and spin, the Pure Drive is one of the most popular and versatile racquets ever made. Although it is weighted for intermediate players (11.2 ounces), this racquet's outstanding playability and easy acceleration lend it an appeal that cuts across ability levels and stroke styles. For the 2018 version of the Pure Drive, Babolat retools the string bed with FSI Power Technology, which includes diamond shaped grommet holes and wider string spacing. The result is a noticeable boost in power and spin potential. Babolat also updates its Cortex dampening system with a viscoelastic rubber used in the space industry. The upshot is better dampening, more comfort and a decidedly more muted feel than past versions of the Pure Drive. On groundstrokes this version of the Pure Drive hits a powerful ball. Aggressive players who like to scramble and crank winners on the run should love this stick. The wider string spacing not only provides big spin potential, but it launches the ball at a higher trajectory, resulting in high-arching shots the come down hard and explode off the court (think heavy ball). At net the Pure Drive checks all the right boxes. It offers quick handling and big put-away power, but it also feels quite solid for its weight class. Aggressive servers will find enough power and spin to force weak replies. Babolat has made some impressive changes to the Pure Drive. Although some players may have to adjust to the slightly more muted feel, there will also be a lot of players who cannot resist this racquet's heavy ball potential.

Gravity MP

GRAVITY MP 16 X 20

Head's main goal with the Graphene 360+ Gravity line is to deliver racquets with a massive sweetspot. The Gravity racquets feature the fifth generation of Graphene technology, called Graphene 360+, which combines Graphene material with SpiralFibers at the shoulders of the racquet for a softer, more responsive feel. The hoop of the racquetis rounder toward the tip, which provides the player with a wider stringbed for easier access to spin. Both the specs and the unique "flip" cosmetics had playtesters eager to get their hands on the Gravity MP. It's safe to say they were thoroughly impressed. The feel, maneuverability and spin potential were the standout features from the baseline and at net. All in all, the Head Gravity MP offers a speedy response combined with user-friendly playability that's perfect for those looking for a modern player's racquet.

Gravity MP Lite

GRAVITY MP LITE 16 X 20

Rising intermediate players looking for comfort, precision and speed should love the Gravity MP Lite. At 10.4 ounces strung and boasting a low 303 RDC swingweight, this racquet should also work for the dedicated beginner. It has a flexible frame, making it one of the more arm-friendly racquets in its class. Built with Graphene 360+, the Gravity MP Lite combines the stability and power of Graphene 360 with a technology called SpiralFibers in the lower head for a cleaner feel at impact. This racquet also features a rounder head shape towards the tip of the racquet. This not only creates a more comfortable and responsive contact zone, it makes it easier to attack the ball at extreme angles for maximum spin. From the baseline, this racquet's speedy acceleration helps when going for pace, and the impressive level of control will boost your confidence when attempting riskier shots and trying to close out points. There's also enough spin-potential to hit sharp angles and bring the ball down effectively. The maneuverability continues at net where improving players will find it easy to spring into action when opportunity knocks. Although the Gravity MP Lite doesn't redirect the pace of a big serve as effectively as the standard MP version, it feels solid for its weight and it will give you the needed speed and precision to stay aggressive. Ultimately, with its fast feel, controllable power and generous sweetspot, the Gravity MP Lite is a great option for the intermediate player who wants ease of use. The fact that it comes with an arm-friendly stiffness rating is an awfully nice bonus.

Radical MP

RADICAL MP 16 X 19

Used by Head Coach Matt Deverson

With this version of the Radical MP, Head adds another impressive chapter to the Radical story, 25+ years in the making.  At 11 ounces strung, the Radical MP is lighter and faster than a traditional player's racquet, making it ideal for the intermediate player. It should also work for the more advanced ball striker who is looking to pick up some speed without losing too much stability. Compared to the previous generation, this racquet has a higher stiffness level, giving it a livelier and more modern feel. It also comes with Graphene 360, which combines Head's polarized weight system with structural reinforcements around the hitting area. The result, according to Head, is greater stability and easier access to power. Like the previous generation, the Radical MP features Head's Dynamic String Pattern, which condenses the center main strings for added control. On groundstrokes, the Radical MP not only feels crisp and precise, but it comes around impressively fast for a racquet with a 320+ RDC swingweight. According to playtesters, full cuts find their mark with ease and there is more than enough spin-potential to exploit the full range of angles and trajectories. At net, the Radical MP is not only quick, but it also rewards clean mechanics with penetrating volleys. On serve, the combination of spin and power should bring out your aggressive side. With its crisp and spin-friendly precision, this version of the Radical MP is an obvious choice for intermediate and advanced players looking for a light player's racquet.

Speed MP

SPEED MP 16 X 19

Sporting some impressive changes for 2018, the Head Speed MP gets updated with a little extra spin and power. In addition to a slightly thicker beam, Head has also widened the spacing between the cross strings. The upshot, according to playtesters, is a noticeable boost in spin potential along with a little extra pop. With the addition of Graphene 360, Head takes their Graphene system to the next level by reinforcing not just the shaft but multiple points along the frame's head. The result is less frame deformation at ball contact, giving the Speed MP a boost in stability and power. For this update Head has also reduced the dampening compound Kraibon, giving it a more modern and crisp feel. On groundstrokes,  the easy acceleration and grippy 16x19 string pattern will help you load the ball with spin. Although this update is a tad more powerful than the previous generation, it still has enough control to keep full cuts inside the lines. It's also quick enough for executing effective shots on the run. This racquet's fast feel continues at net where the Speed MP will help you react quickly on fast exchanges. Ultimately, the Graphene 360 Speed MP is a great option for intermediate and advanced players who want a light player's racquet with a user-friendly blend of spin, pop and precision.

Speed MP Lite

SPEED MP LITE 16 X 19

Interested in power, comfort and maneuverability? We think we've got your solution with the Head Graphene 360 MP Lite. Although not as hefty as its big brother, this lighter version boasts a more manageable swingweight. As a result, you'll find it easier to maximize stroke speed in the service of pace and spin. With its open 16x19 string pattern, the MP Lite is quite spin friendly, and the RA stiffness of 63 makes it more arm-friendly than many of its competitors. With the addition of Graphene 360, Head not only strengthens this racquet's shaft, but it also reinforces the head at 3,9 and 12 o'clock. The upshot is a more solid feel when trading groundstrokes along with impressive power on full cuts. There's also plenty of spin for controlling the power or crafting sharp angles. At net, our forward-inclined playtesters appreciated the quick-handling, and the near even balance helped keep the racquet steady when redirecting higher levels of pace. In addition to the fast and whippy feel, the combination of spin, power and precision makes for effective serving. All in all, this offering is ideal for intermediates & dedicated beginners looking to transition to more advanced ranks, and who want a more swingable version of the Speed MP.

Instinct MP

INSTINCT MP  16 X 19

Endorsed by Maria Sharapova! Updated with a more solid feel, the Graphene 360 Instinct MP not only offers the speed, power and spin of a modern player's racquet,  but it has a more arm-friendly stiffness rating than many of its competitors. In addition to giving intermediate players the tools to play aggressive tennis, the Instinct MP should also appeal to the more advanced player who wants easier acceleration. Compared to the Graphene Touch version it replaces, this update has a slightly higher swingweight, giving it a boost in stability and power. It also gets updated with Graphene 360, which not only reinforces the shaft to achieve the benefits of polarized weighting, but also reinforces multiple locations around the stringbed for a more solid and powerful response. On groundstrokes the Instinct MP rewards full cuts with controllable power and easy access to spin. Although not as solid feeling as a traditionally weighted player's racquet, this stick is sufficiently stable for its weight class. The 320-RDC swingweight gives it enough speed for whipping up spin, while leaving enough mass in the head to get the ball moving effectively through the court. At net, the Instinct MP plays great on reaction volleys, with enough pop to close out points. It also comes around fast on service returns to deliver plenty of control when the pressure is on. Aggressive servers will have the needed precision and spin to target the corners of the service box. Ultimately, the Instinct MP is a great option for the intermediate player who wants a light and comfortable player's racquet with easy targeting.

EXTREME MP  16 X 19

Introducing the Head Graphene 360 Extreme MP! This racquet replaces the Graphene Touch version with some extra power and spin. Although it is weighted for intermediate players, the Extreme MP packs a near 330-RDC swingweight, giving it enough heft for more advanced ball strikers. For this generation, Head drops the dampening compound Kraibon, giving this stick a crisper, less muted feel at contact.  Also new to this generation is wider string spacing, resulting in a more spin-friendly response. The signature technology is Graphene 360, a material technology that adds stability to the racquet by reinforcing multiple locations around the head's perimeter. The Extreme MP also features Head's 360 Spin Grommets, which enable the strings to snap the ball out of the stringbed with higher RPMs (think spin). From the baseline, this racquet feels fast, lively and accurate, and there's enough spin-potential for bringing the ball down hard. At net, the Extreme MP moves into position with ease, and there's plenty of power for ending points with a bang. Aggressive servers who can get this stick moving fast will be rewarded with plenty of free points. Ultimately, the Extreme MP is a great option for intermediate and advanced players looking to dominate the court with pace and spin.

MXG 3

MXG 3

Introducing Head's MxG 3, a comfortably crisp racquet that combines easy targeting with impressive levels of power and spin. In addition to being perfectly weighted for intermediates, this stick should work well for the more experienced club player who needs a light and speedy option. Head builds this stick with MxG Technology, which combines the power and dampening of Graphene Touch with a 100% Magnesium throat bridge. By keeping the upper hoop more stable at impact, this unique throat bridge creates a more predictable launch angle off the string bed (think control). It also accommodates longer, free moving main strings (think power and comfort). From the baseline the MxG 3 not only feels comfortably firm and accurate, but it offers near effortless access to pace. The combination of maneuverability and power will enable you to switch quickly from defense to offense, and the grippy 16x18 string pattern provides enough spin potential to hit balls that drop hard and jump off the court. At net this racquet moves fast, making it great on reaction volleys. There's also enough pop to finish points decisively. Although the MxG 3 doesn't have the stability of a 12+ ounce player's racquet, most intermediates will likely appreciate not having the unwanted bulk. Finally, the combination of speed, power and spin should definitely translate into some aggressive serving. Intermediate players looking for speed, spin and power should add this to their demo list.

Head builds this stick with MxG Technology, which combines the power and dampening of Graphene Touch with a 100% Magnesium throat bridge. At net the 105 square inch head provides a large strike zone for making clean contact with the ball, and the maneuverability means you won't be caught off guard. On serves, the slightly extended length translates into easier power, and there's more than enough spin potential for hitting effective slices. MXG 7

MXG 7

Introducing Head's MxG 7, the lightest and most powerful member of Head's MxG family. At under 10 ounces strung, this stick is perfect for the beginner who wants an easy swinging racquet with generous levels of comfort and power. It should also work for the crafty doubles veteran looking to regain a lost step. The generous 115 square inch head provides a nice margin of error, ensuring that power and comfort remain high when contact is less than perfect. This racquet also comes with an extended 27.6" length, which will not only give you extra reach, but it will allow you to hit groundstrokes and serves with more power. There's also an impressive level of spin-potential thanks to the 16x18 string pattern. Head builds this stick with MxG Technology, which combines the exceptional dampening of Graphene Touch with a 100% Magnesium throat bridge. By keeping the upper hoop more stable at impact, this unique throat bridge creates a more predictable launch angle off the string bed. It also permits longer main strings for added power and comfort. From the baseline, the MxG 7 feels wonderfully solid and arm-friendly for a light racquet. Compact and medium length strokes find the back court without much fuss, while full swings produce impressive power. The open 16x18 string pattern not only gives you a higher trajectory (think easy depth), but it also provides huge spin-potential. At new, the large and stable hitting surface rewards simple blocks with easy depth. There's also enough pop for ending points with a bang. The extended length is a blessing on serves, where you'll not only discover easier net clearance but loads of extra power. Ultimately, with its seductive blend of power, comfort and spin, the MxG 7 is a must demo for any player who wants a very user-friendly weapon for singles or doubles.

Ti S6

A straight beam, head heavy widebody, this ultra-light (8.9oz.) titanium model has more power than the Ti S5 but more control than the now discontinued Ti S7. A lively frame with excellent torsional stability, the Head Titanium Ti S6 will perform best in the hands of players with compact to medium stroke styles seeking an extra large sweetspot (115 head size) that blends a nice balance of power tempered with an open string pattern; ideal for spin artists with an all court game.

PRO STAFF 97L 16 X 19

For 2018, Wilson adds another chapter to the Pro Staff 97L. This racquet has the same white and black cosmetic as the racquet Federer uses on tour, complete with the same velvety paint and chrome touches. For this update, Wilson drops the Countervail technology, resulting in a firmer and more powerful response. At just under 11 ounces, the 97L swings fast, making it easier for less advanced players to load the ball with pace and spin. Boasting a 315 RDC swingweight, this stick plays with above average stability for its weight class.  As a result, it does better than many of its competitors at absorbing and redirecting higher levels of pace. From the baseline, the 97L rewards full swings with an impressive combination of power and accuracy. The accuracy comes in part from the open 16x19 string pattern, which supplies the needed bite for bringing the ball down with spin. At net, the Pro Staff 97L offers quick handling, with decent touch for hitting droppers. The mobile weight comes in handy on service returns where the 97L whips around fast to deliver accurate targeting. Ultimately, Wilson has created a speedy and precise weapon for intermediates. With its controllable power and crisp precision, this is a great option for those who want the performance of a player's racquet without the bulk.

BLADE 98 COUNTERVAIL 16 X 19

Used by Head Coach Michael Poulos

The Blade 98 16x19 lives on! Although this racquet has the same target specs as the previous generation, Wilson has given it the ultra sleek and silky paint finish found in the Pro Staff series. With its grippy 16x19 string pattern, this racquet will give you bigger power and spin than you'll find with the 18x20 version, but thankfully it still manages to deliver the precision and feel for which the Blade series is known. New to this model is Countervail technology, which uses a special carbon layer to enhance the already impressive dampening provided by the braided Basalt/Graphite layup. The overall result, according to Wilson, is increased arm-protection and less muscle fatigue. Thanks to its Parallel Drilling technology, this racquet’s string bed is better able to absorb vibration and transfer extra energy to the ball. On groundstrokes the Blade 98 16x19 delivers a smooth feel and controllable power. Big swings are rewarded with penetrating depth, and the high spin-potential delivers phenomenal command over the ball’s trajectory and depth. Although this stick boasts a speedy 11.3 ounce weight, there’s enough mass in the head to keep the racquet steady when trading heavy balls or redirecting the pace of a big serve. The solid feel continues at net where the Blade packs enough punch to finish points with a bang. Aggressive servers will find enough precision to target the corners of the box with pace and spin. With incremental updates to the feel and an amazingly sleek black cosmetic, Wilson continues the legacy of this light but solid player’s racquet. A worthy demo for anyone who wants controllable power, great feel and easy access to spin.

clash 100

CLASH 100 16 X 19

Introducing the Clash 100, a uniquely flexible racquet with explosive speed, easy spin and great feel. At 11 ounces strung and boasting a low 312-RDC swingweight, this stick is ideal for the intermediate player who wants ultra easy acceleration. What makes the Clash special is what lies under the hood. This racquet has one of the lowest and most arm-friendly flex points on the market. As a result it has better pocketing, control and touch than a typical modern player's racquet. According to Wilson, the flexible feel is achieved with the help of two innovative material technologies, FreeFlex and StableSmart, both of which help deliver the benefits of flexibility without compromising the crisp and solid feel that modern power players crave. From the baseline, the Clash 100 offers a seductive blend of comfort and speed. Although it lacks the power and plow-through of the heavier Tour model, this racquet's easy acceleration will enable you to take very aggressive cuts at the ball when going for extra pace and spin. You'll also find it easy to scramble on defense or crank winners on the run. This racquet's impressive speed continues at net where it plays great on reaction volleys. It doesn't give you the stability and mass-based pop of a traditionally weighted player's racquet, but it rewards clean mechanics with good results, and there's more than enough feel for executing sharp angles or malicious droppers. Thanks to how easily this racquet explodes through contact, aggressive servers should find enough power and spin to impose their will. With its raw speed and outstanding feel, Wilson has created an impressive weapon for those who want a light player's racquet.

BURN TEAM 100

BURN TEAM 100 16 X 19

The Burn Team puts an impressive combination of speed, spin and power into a light (and very affordable) package. As one of the better value options in the Wilson line, this stick is a call to beginners, intermediates or rising juniors looking for a user friendly performance racquet. Made from high modulus Carbon Fiber, the Burn Team plays crisp, lively and very precise. The most notable feature is the weight. At only 10 ounces strung, this racquet will give you the kind of raw speed that produces effective pace and spin. It’s also surprisingly flexible (63RA), a fact that makes it a tad more arm friendly than many of its competitors. Wilson also adds a perforated Cushion-Aire grip to further soften the ride.  From the baseline the Burn Team comes around with remarkable ease to deliver controllable power on big cuts. Improving players should have an easy time controlling the racquet’s angle and speed through contact - a fact that definitely helps with spin. At net the light weight not only makes for easy positioning, but it leads to quicker reaction times when the pressure is on. Finally, this racquet's speed and surgical targeting should unlock some aggressive serving. Ultimately, with its controllable power and user-friendly access to spin, the Burn Team offers an impressive level of playability for the price.
