At Elite Tennis International we inspire the next generation to excel as athletes, tennis players and community members. Combining values-based Tennis For Kids programs with high-performance coaching, we deliver fun, age-appropriate learning for beginners alongside disciplined training for aspiring competitors. Our experienced, Tennis Australia-registered coaches foster skill development, confidence, resilience and a lifelong love of the game — helping each child reach their potential on and off the court.

Red Ball

Age guide: Prep-Grade 2

An introduction to tennis fundamentals in a fun, play based environment. We introduce basic technique in the Red Ball stage, prioritising correct grips, stance and swing shape for forehands, backhands and volleys.

Orange Ball

Age guide: Grade 2 - 4

Orange Ball can be used as an introduction to tennis for older children or a progression for those who have mastered Red Ball. Coaches continue to refine technique with games and drills that focus on rallying and serving to prepare children for match play.

Green Ball

Age guide: Grade 4 - 6

The final Hot Shots stage before moving to standard tennis balls. Green Ball is ideal for children continuing to learn new skills while also engaging in regular match play. Our coaches refine technique, teaching consistency, a variety of spins and efficient strokes.

Yellow Ball

Age guide: Grade 7+

Yellow Ball focuses on refining full swing mechanics and tactical awareness for advanced juniors. Players consolidate swing lines, master match patterns, sharpen footwork and movement, and prepare for competitive tournaments and fixtures. Sessions combine technical drills, situational point play and match simulation to build consistency, decision-making and on-court resilience.

Red Match Play

Age guide: Prep-Grade 2

Red Ball Match Play provides a fully supervised introduction to match play for our youngest competitors. Sessions focus on rallying, basic serve and return, and improving footwork and game confidence. A fun, supportive atmosphere helps players progress and enjoy competing.

Orange Match Play

Age guide: Grade 2 - 4

Orange Ball Match Play serves as a graduation from Red Ball. Players develop shot selection, movement, match awareness, consistency and court positioning through supervised, competitive play that builds tactical understanding and confidence.

Green Match Play

Age guide: Grade 4 - 6

Green Ball Match Play can be used as a graduation from Orange Ball Fixtures or as an introduction to fixtures for older children. Children improve all areas of their game, most noticeably their serve and consistency.

Yellow Match Play

Age guide: Grade 7+

Yellow Ball Match Play is for older players that have progressed beyond the aid of modified balls. The format is designed to ensure children keep progressing their tennis in a fun and social environment.

What is Hot Shots Tennis?

Hot Shots Tennis is made for kids. Smaller courts, lighter racquets and low compression balls make learning tennis fun and easy. This means that kids are able to pick up a racquet and hit balls right from their first lesson!
We run the Red, Orange and Green stages, starting as young as 5 years old.

Our goal is to help to develop children's skills and confidence from the beginning. ETI Hot Shots students are taught by qualified Tennis Australia coaches and progress at their pace, moving on to the next stage when they are ready.
We also offer squad and matchplay opportunities for students looking to go the extra step in their tennis lessons!

TOP 10 REASONS WHY HOT SHOTS TENNIS IS THE BEST PROGRAM FOR KIDS

You may be wondering why your coach / tennis program is using smaller courts and slower balls. It may not be the way that you learned to play, and you may even be thinking that you want your child to play on the full sized court. Here are some of the many reasons why modified tennis balls and courts are recognised as the best andmost accepted way to learn to play, and to develop children into great little tennis players.

TOP 10 REASONS FOR RED, ORANGE AND GREEN TENNIS:

    1. Right stuff

Courts and equipment are scaled to the appropriate size of the child. When children are just starting out we want to make it easier for them to play, not more difficult. Using the yellow ball on the full sized court makes it much tougher for them, especially if they are smaller.

    2. More skills

Balls bounce lower and red balls fly slower, allowing players to develop technical skills faster.Using these balls means that children can learn more not less. As they develop they transfer these skills and move from court to court, adding more coordination and complexity.

    3. No extremes

As balls are hit in the appropriate strike zones more often, players are less likely to develop extreme grips and techniques that might limit their future development both tactically and technically.

    4. Play quicker

Players can serve, rally and score faster. This means that children feel like they can really play the game and have more fun. They are also much more likely to practice as they can play with their parents and friends.

    5. Global

Leading tennis nations have adopted this methodology over the past 15 years. The results have seen an exciting growth in tennis participation and confidence in play. Check out tennis playandstay.com for more information on kids tennis around the world!

    6. More balls please

As they can rally, children will hit over 100% more balls than a player standing in line, being fed balls by a coach. No longer do children have to spend more time picking up than they do hitting. As a result they will improve much faster and also develop the essential tracking and receiving skills required for tennis.

    7. Tactical mastery

Players develop a greater tactical awareness of the court and opponent sooner as they have the time to integrate the position of the opponent into a decision making process rather than just "winning the collision" with the ball. In short they get to "make the ball do what they want it to" and not just "cope" with the oncoming ball.

    8. Ticking all the boxes

Red, Orange and Green tennis provides a systematic approach to developing different skills as ball trajectories change and increasing court dimensions require new or more advanced levels of technical and tactical skills. Players learn skills in an order meaning that they develop fewer gaps in their technical and tactical skills, or game styles.

    9. Move it

Players movement patterns are more realistic. For example 85% of shots on the tour are hit within 4 steps of the starting position. On appropriate sized courts this is very similar. Players can learn to be "on balance"and use realistic footwork and movement patterns. Also as more balls come back and rallies are longer they learn that recovery and being ready for the next shot are essential.

    10. No robots

Players can develop a variety of game styles and skills that better suit their personality. The slower balls and smaller courts mean that players can play in all areas of the court, coming to net more often and learning to attack and defend more appropriately.
